This work explores how spreadsheets can be extended to function as an environment for tasks which are visual in nature - centering solely around an exploration of how spreadsheets might inform the design of tools for creating paper weaving patterns. A prototype environment was built to explore the affordances such a tool might have. The exploration confirmed, through enabling the design of novel patterns, that spreadsheets can serve as a powerful model for building tools and environments for visual work.
